Carpet cleaning for Honolulu condos and homes
Hot water extraction priced by home size, from $179. Vitor & Fabi do every job themselves, and most carpets are dry in 4–6 hours.
Professional carpet cleaning in Honolulu starts at $179 for a studio with Like Day One, and the price is set by home size, not by surprise add-ons at the door. We pre-treat traffic lanes, extract with hot water, rinse out the residue and leave most carpets dry in 4–6 hours.
Carpet cleaning in Honolulu has its own set of problems. Beach sand works down to the backing and cuts the fibers every time someone walks on it. Humid air keeps odors trapped in the pad. Rental-grade carpet in condos and townhomes shows every traffic lane within a year. Like Day One is owner-operated: Vitor & Fabi show up, walk the rooms with you and clean the way they would clean their own home.
We publish flat "from" prices by home size, from a studio at $179 to a 4-bedroom at $389. You know the number before we arrive. If a room needs pet treatment or a stain needs extra work, we tell you first and you decide. No bait price, no pressure at the door.
Our products are safe for kids and pets once dry, and we rinse with clean water so nothing sticky stays behind to attract new dirt. Most carpets are dry in 4–6 hours with the AC running or the lanai door open to the trade winds.

How we clean it, step by step
- 01
Walk-through & quote check
We confirm rooms, note stains and pet spots, and agree on the price before any equipment comes in.
- 02
Vacuum & pre-treat
A thorough dry vacuum lifts sand and grit, then traffic lanes and spots get a pre-spray matched to the soil.
- 03
Extract & rinse
Hot water extraction loosens and removes soil from the base of the fibers, then a clean-water rinse pulls out the residue.
- 04
Groom & speed drying
We groom the pile, set furniture blocks and help you set up airflow with AC, fans or open windows.
- 05
Final look together
We walk the rooms with you before we leave. If something bothers you, we fix it while we are still there.

Why carpet on Oahu gets dirty faster
Three things work against carpet here. First, beach sand. It rides home on feet, towels and beach bags, then settles deep in the backing where it acts like sandpaper on every fiber. That is why traffic lanes turn gray and fuzzy long before the rest of the room.
Second, humidity. Moist air slows drying after every spill and keeps odors locked in the pad. A condo in Kakaako with the lanai door closed all day can smell musty even when the carpet looks fine.
Third, residue. Many carpets we see were cleaned before with too much soap and not enough rinse. Sticky residue attracts dirt, so the carpet looks worse a few weeks later. We rinse with clean water to break that cycle. If you have pets, see our pet urine and odor removal service for the pad-level problem.
Hot water extraction vs. low-moisture cleaning
Most wall-to-wall carpet is best cleaned with hot water extraction. Heat and a matched pre-spray break down oily soil, and strong suction pulls it out along with the water. It reaches the base of the fibers, where most of the dirt sits.
Low-moisture cleaning uses much less water and dries faster. It works well for light maintenance, some wool rugs and commercial carpet, but it does not flush out deep soil the same way. We choose the method for your carpet and explain why, instead of using one machine for everything.
Either way, drying is part of the job. Most homes are dry in 4–6 hours. Run the AC, turn on ceiling fans and open windows if the trade winds are blowing. Wear clean socks, not street shoes, until it is fully dry.
What rental machines and DIY get wrong
Store rental machines put down a lot of water and pull up far less. Carpet stays wet for a day or more, and in Honolulu humidity that can bring back a musty smell. Most people also use too much shampoo, which leaves the residue that re-soils the carpet fast.
Rubbing a stain with a towel spreads it and frays the fibers. Blot from the outside in with plain cool water and call us for anything that does not lift. For a clear view of costs by room, see our pricing page. Moving out? Our move-out and PCS carpet cleaning includes a dated receipt for your landlord. We also clean the sofa: see upholstery cleaning in Honolulu. We work across the island, from Kakaako high-rises to family homes in Hawaii Kai.
What clients say about our carpet cleaning work
Carpet cleaning: questions, answered
Still unsure? Text us a photo and ask — a real person answers.
How long does carpet take to dry after cleaning?
Most carpets are dry in 4–6 hours. Thick plush, cool rainy days and closed-up condos can take longer. Running the AC, ceiling fans or opening windows to the trade winds speeds it up. You can walk on it right away in clean socks, but keep shoes and pets off until it is dry.
Do I need to move furniture before you arrive?
Please pick up small items, toys and anything fragile from the floor. We move light furniture like chairs, side tables and ottomans and put it back on protective blocks. We clean around beds, dressers, pianos and entertainment units. If you want something heavy moved, tell us when you book.
Will every stain come out?
Many stains release completely, and most improve a lot. Some do not, like bleach spots, old dye stains, burns or damage from years of pet urine. We tell you honestly during the walk-through what to expect from each spot, so there are no surprises when we finish the job.
Are your products safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use products that are safe for kids and pets once the carpet is dry, and we rinse with clean water so no heavy residue stays in the fibers. If anyone in your home has allergies or sensitivities, let us know and we will walk you through what we plan to use.
How often should carpet be cleaned in Honolulu?
For most homes, every 6 to 12 months. Homes with pets, small kids or a lot of beach traffic do better every 4 to 6 months. Regular cleaning removes sand before it wears down the fibers, so the carpet looks better for longer. Our maintenance plan schedules it for you automatically.
Is the price on the website the price I pay?
Yes, for the home size you book. The "from" price covers standard cleaning of carpeted rooms and hallways. Stairs, pet treatment or heavy restoration are extra, and we always tell you before we start. Prices are before Hawaii GET (4.712%). No trip fees for our normal Oahu service area.
