FAQ

Questions, answered

Drying time, pet safety, stain removal, fabric protection and pricing — everything before you book.

Drying & timing

How long does upholstery take to dry?

Most sofas and chairs are dry in 4–6 hours. We set up air movers before we leave, and running the AC or opening the lanai for the trade winds speeds it up. Thick cushions, down fill and rainy windward days can take a little longer, and we will tell you when it's safe to sit.

How long does a visit take?

A single sofa takes about 60 to 90 minutes including setup and the fabric test. A sofa plus a two-bedroom carpet usually takes two and a half to three hours. We give you a time window with your quote, so you can plan your day around it.

Can you work around building rules in towers?

Yes. We regularly work in Kakaako, Ala Moana and Waikiki towers. Tell us about loading dock reservations, elevator padding, contractor hours and parking, and we will plan for them. If your AOAO needs a certificate of insurance, we can send it ahead of the visit.

Pets & safety

Are your products safe for pets and kids?

Yes. We use pet- and kid-safe, low-residue products and rinse thoroughly, so nothing sticky stays behind to attract dirt. There is no harsh chemical smell afterwards. Pets and kids can use the furniture as soon as it is dry, and we share safety data sheets on request.

Can you remove pet urine odor for good?

In most cases, yes. We use UV light to find every spot, then an enzyme treatment that breaks down urine at the source instead of covering it with fragrance. If urine has soaked into the subfloor, the pad may need replacing, and we will tell you before we start.

Do my pets need to leave during the visit?

They don't need to leave the house, but a closed room or crate keeps them away from hoses and wet floors. Our equipment is loud for a short time. Many dogs happily watch from the lanai, and cats usually prefer to hide until we are done.

Stains & results

Will every stain come out?

Most stains come out or fade dramatically, but we never promise 100%. Old coffee, red wine, ink, dye transfer and set-in urine depend on the fabric and age of the stain. We test first, tell you what is realistic, and never charge extra for extra effort on a spot.

Why did my carpet get dirty again fast after a DIY clean?

Rental machines and store shampoos often leave soapy residue in the fibers, and residue attracts dirt like a magnet. We rinse with clean water after pre-treating, so there is little left behind to re-soil. That is why a professional clean often looks better for longer.

Can you clean linen and velvet?

Yes, they are our specialty. Linen can brown or shrink if over-wet, and velvet pile can crush. We check the cleaning code, use low-moisture methods and a pH-balanced rinse, then groom the pile while it dries. Delicate fabrics are exactly why people call specialists.

Fabric protection

What does fabric protection do?

It helps fabric repel liquids, so spills bead on the surface instead of soaking in, which makes cleanup much easier. It does not make fabric stain-proof, and you still need to blot spills quickly. We test it with a water drop before we leave so you can see it working.

How long does protection last?

On a sofa used every day, protection keeps working for about a year; lighter-use pieces last longer. Cleaning and heavy wear reduce it over time, so we reapply after deep cleans. Every protection job includes a 12-month touch-up guarantee.

Should I protect a brand-new sofa?

Yes — new is the best time. The fabric is clean, so the protector bonds evenly, and you get protection before the first spill instead of after it. Many furniture-store protection plans are warranties, not treatments, so check what yours actually includes.

Pricing & payment

How much does sofa cleaning cost in Honolulu?

Our sofa cleaning starts at $219 for a standard 3-seat sofa, and Sofa Shield (cleaning plus fabric protection) is $289. Prices are before GET (4.712%). Send a photo and we will confirm the exact price before we come.

How do I pay?

You pay after the job is done and you have seen the result. We take card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Zelle and check. GET is shown as a separate line on the invoice, and there is no trip fee inside our service area.

Do you charge extra for moving furniture?

No, we move light furniture like coffee tables and chairs at no charge and put it back where it was. We don't move heavy items like pianos, full bookshelves or electronics with cables. Please clear small breakables and anything on the floor before we arrive.

Booking

Do I need to be home?

For the first visit, yes, at least for the start, so we can review fabric, stains and price together. After that, you can go about your day. Repeat clients and maintenance plan members often leave a door code, and we send photos when we finish.

How far in advance should I book?

Most weeks we can see you within three to five days. Before Thanksgiving, Christmas and graduation season we fill up two to three weeks ahead, so book early for holiday prep. Maintenance plan members get priority on dates.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Honolulu and most of Oahu — from Kakaako, Ala Moana, Waikiki and Manoa to Kailua, Hawaii Kai, Kahala, Kapolei and more. See the full list on our service areas page, or just ask; we probably cover you.
