Stair carpet cleaning, every tread and edge
Detail tools for treads, risers and the edges where dirt builds up. From $99 per staircase, or add it to a whole-home carpet cleaning.
Stair carpet cleaning in Honolulu starts at $99 per staircase with Like Day One. We clean each tread, riser and edge with hand detail tools, because a full-size carpet wand cannot reach where stairs get dirtiest.
Stair carpet cleaning in Honolulu is detail work. Stairs get more foot traffic per square foot than any room in the house. Every trip up and down grinds beach sand into the front edge of each step, and hands on the wall and railing leave dark marks along the sides.
Most townhomes and houses on Oahu have carpeted stairs, from Kapolei and Ewa to Mililani and Kailua. A big carpet wand does not fit a stair tread, so stairs cleaned in a hurry often look worse on the edges than before. Vitor & Fabi clean stairs one step at a time with hand tools made for the job.
Stairs are $99 per staircase, and they pair well with a whole-home carpet cleaning or a pet treatment for the top landing, a favorite spot for dogs and cats.

Why stairs look dirty first
Every step is a small traffic lane. Feet land in the same spot on every tread and push off from the front edge, which is why the nose of each step turns gray first. Sand from the beach or the yard falls into the back corner, where the tread meets the riser, and a regular vacuum head cannot reach it.
The sides collect dust and marks from hands, bags and pets brushing the wall. In humid homes, those edges can also hold a musty smell. Dogs and cats often wait at the top landing, so it is a common spot for hair and accidents. A UV check during pet urine and odor removal finds what you cannot see.
Drying and safety on carpeted stairs
Stairs dry quickly because each step has only a small area of carpet and we use a controlled amount of water. Most stairs are dry in 4–6 hours, often sooner with a ceiling fan or the AC running.
Damp carpet on stairs can be slippery for socks and paws. Use the railing, keep pets off until the stairs are dry, and avoid carrying laundry baskets or kids up and down right after cleaning. If you need the stairs in use the same day, we can clean them first and the rooms after.
What DIY stair cleaning gets wrong
Rental machines are made for flat floors. On stairs, the wand leaves heavy wet spots, misses the corners and often leaves soap along the edges. That sticky residue attracts dirt, and within weeks the step edges look darker than before. Scrubbing the nose with a brush can also fray the fibers where wear is already worst.

What clients say about our stairs work
Stairs: questions, answered
Still unsure? Text us a photo and ask — a real person answers.
How much does stair carpet cleaning cost?
Stairs are $99 per standard staircase, including the top and bottom landings. Curved stairs, extra-long runs or heavy pet damage may be quoted separately after a photo. Stairs can be added to any carpet cleaning visit. All prices are before Hawaii GET (4.712%), and we confirm the total before starting.
Can you clean stairs without doing the whole house?
Yes. Many customers book stairs on their own because they wear out faster than any room. It is also common to pair stairs with the hallway at the top or a pet treatment on the landing. Text us a photo and we will confirm a flat price for the job.
How long until we can use the stairs?
You can walk on them carefully in clean socks right away, holding the railing. Most stairs are fully dry in a few hours, often faster than rooms because we use less water on each step. Keep pets and kids off until the carpet is dry, since damp stairs can be slippery.
Will the dark edges on my stairs come out?
Usually they improve a lot, because most dark edges are built-up dust and residue. In some homes the edges are worn fibers or permanent staining from years of traffic, which cleaning cannot fully reverse. We point this out before we start so you know what to expect from each step.
Do you clean carpet runners on hardwood stairs?
Yes. Runners get the same step-by-step detail cleaning, with extra care to keep moisture off the wood on each side. We use a controlled amount of water and wipe any drips right away. For wool runners, we test fibers and dyes first and use a wool-safe method.
